Day Rehabilitation

Our Day Rehabilitation service is specifically designed to meet individual needs. Day rehabilitation involves individually tailored rehabilitation that is delivered either one on one or in a group setting. Day Rehabilitation at Murray Valley Private Hospital runs four days a week (Monday to Thursday).

Depending on your goals and needs, you may get assistance from any of the following team members:

  • Cardiac Nurse
  • Physiotherapist
  • Social Worker
  • Speech pathologist
  • Psychologist

How do I book in?

To attend the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program, we require a referral from a GP or a specialist to one of our Rehabilitation Specialists.

Once you have been referred to the program by your specialist, GP or referring hospital, you will be contacted by the program co-ordinator to arrange a suitable starting date.

Our Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Program is tailored for patients who

  • Have undergone or are about to undergo joint replacement surgery
  • Have suffered a recent fracture
  • Have undergone spinal surgery such as a fusion, discectomy or laminectomy
  • Need to improve the way they walk
  • Need treatment to improve strength, mobility, flexibility, endurance and balance
  • Need to improve their ability to do everyday activities

Do you need help with walking or everyday activities?

Our Reconditioning Rehabilitation Program is designed for patients who

  • Have recently experienced a serious acute episode of illness
  • Undergone a surgical procedure
  • Have a chronic medical condition
  • Need treatment to improve strength, endurance and balance
  • Need to improve their ability to do everyday activities

Do you need to regain strength & endurance?

Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program is tailored for people who have heart disease, have had a cardiac procedure, have heart failure, or experience risk factors associated with heart disease
The aim of the program is to help people return to their previous lifestyles and activities through exercise and education.

Our Persistent Pain Rehabilitation Program is based on current best practice management of this condition using a multidisciplinary based approach

We understand that having persistent pain is a whole life problem, not just a physical one, and recognise that for people living with persistent pain, the control and alleviation of symptoms can be a lifelong journey.

Our role is to partner with you and create a dynamic pain management strategy by exploring concepts such as pacing, graded exposure, relaxation, stress management and return to exercise/activity.

Our multidisciplinary Oncology rehabilitation Program, ACTIVATE, is for people who have a primary diagnosis of cancer.

The aim of this program is to help people, regardless of where they are on their cancer journey, lead an active and fulfilling lifestyle. The program consists of structured exercise program and education sessions from a range of health professionals.
